The Infrared (IR) Thermal Imager NEC Thermo Tracer
The use of portable infrared (IR) Thermal Imager NEC Thermo Tracer, kindly borrowed by ETHZ (Zurich), was incorporated in the satellite surface temperature mapping of the Nisyros Volcano. Its use in identifying invisible fumarole activity, in gas geochemistry sampling, in 2-D ground temperature measurements for satellite image calibration, as well as other applications, was proven particularly successful.

A number of Infra Red (IR) images of Nisyros, including the caldera area and that one around Stephanos Crater, were taken by the Thermo Tracer camera, and shown in the following:
