Athens area

The broader area of Athens is the most populated area in Greece. In order to study the tectonic deformation and the deformation due to human activities (water pumping) an extend network of 40 GPS stations was established in the broader area of Athens in 2005 and re-measured in 2006.

The network was referred to Dionysos (Athens) permanent GPS station, run by Prof. D. Paradeisis - NTUA Higher Geodesy Laboratory, and to the new established EUREF station of the GeodynamicInstitute of the National Observatory of Athens in the area of Penteli Mt.
